The Word Of Mouth Music Charity Fund

At this point in time are proud supporters of Salvation Army & Save The Children.  We have chosen to support these two charitable organizations because they are not only well respected but we believe they make a visible difference to global issues that are important to both ourselves and our listeners.

SAVE THE CHILDREN

Their vision:

Save the Children works for a world

  • which respects and values each child
  • which listens to children and learns
  • where all children have hope and opportunity

Their mission:

Save the Children Australia Mission

Save the Children Australia aims to ensure that all children, regardless of gender, race, country of origin or religious belief have the means for survival, receive protection and have access to nutrition, primary health care and basic education.

Save the Children fights for children's rights. They deliver immediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide.

International Save the Children Mission

Save the Children fights:

on behalf of children, forcing their voices into the wider arena to make their needs heard and their rights recognised. They challenge abuse, misuse and ignorance. They fight not on a physical level, but an intellectual and emotional one.

…for children's rights:

They demand that children's rights are put - and remain - on the agenda of all those in whose hands their future rests - from world powers to individual parents, caregivers/guardians or those responsible to children.

They deliver immediate and lasting improvements:

Their work continues whatever the circumstances and their output is visible. They respond immediately at times of emergency - bringing effective help to children at risk - but they don't disappear when the crisis is over. They also run long-term programs with and for children, improving their lives and giving them a realistic chance of a positive future.

…to children's lives worldwide:

They have an international network of 27 organisations that carry out national and overseas programs for children in over 110 countries. Their reach is global.

THE SALVATION ARMY

One of the more distinctive denominations of the Christian Church, The Salvation Army operates as both a church and a network of social services, stemming from its worship of God and its Christian values. There are currently 1,650,000 Salvationists (members) in over 106 countries.

The Salvation Army is one of the largest and most diverse social welfare providers in the world.  In a typical week, The Salvation Army will provide people in need with an estimated 180,000 meals and 20,000 food vouchers. They will distribute 600 blankets, help 440 people in the prison and courts system, and place 3,500 people in jobs. Over the next 7 days the Salvos will help 800 victims of abuse and provide counselling services for 4,000 people and help 1,200 people with substance abuse issues.
